We have recently expanded! We are now providing traditional Italian food to the city of Sunderland! Why not come along and explore our brand new restaurant, the great thing about it is that it’s right along the coast! Our Italian Restaurant in Sunderland is ideally situated right next to the Poetic License gin bar, meaning you can enjoy their delicious distilled gins in our restaurant! As well as the gin bar upstairs, Antico restaurant in Sunderland, is also right next to the Roker Hotel. So, if you’re enjoying a weekend away there, then you can enjoy one of our homemade pizza and pasta dishes, along with our other authentic Italian dishes. At Antico Sunderland, we offer all our classic dishes, as well as our well-loved early-bird menu.

Antico Birtley at The Board Inn

The Board Inn has been under our management since 2011. The interiors, as well as the cuisine, reflect the perfect combination of two cultures, the Italian and the British one, which are both at the very core of our philosophy. The typical cosy feeling of a British country pub is combined with the Antico recognizable modern and elegant interiors style and completed by our true passion for great Italian food.

The restaurant has a pub area at the entrance where the main bar is located, with comfortable chairs and sofas and a fireplace. We then have a separate main area for dining, which extends into the conservatory and two smaller, more intimate rooms for a quieter dining experience.

The restaurant is situated on Penshaw View in Birtley, Chester-le-Street, easily accessible by car taking the A1 or by bus taking the service X25 and the bus stop is just a few steps away.
